After dropping the highly-anticipated successor to the hugely successful ‘Time Out EP’ and ‘Drums, Slums and Hums’ mixtape, Branko now puts a new spin on his latest solo effort ‘Control EP’ with the help of remixers Milangeles, Castro and Poté, as well as MaxX & EJ, the winners of the remix competition hosted by Do Androids Dance in partnership with AIAIAI headphones.
Teaming up with Algerian-British-Norwegian Yadi led to the frenetic sonic fusion of the original ‘Control’ track; equal parts Egyptian-inspired temptress and empowering anthem atop a club-friendly bassline. That same energy was captured by Italian duo Milangeles and taken up a notch as the unpredictable Global Club Music explorers ramp up the BPM and turn it into a 145BPM dancefloor stomper with the help of Branko himself. After that energetic take on the original, Welsh producer Castro slows things down and twists the track into a colourful and personal take on moombah rhythms. Fresh off his Upper Cuts debut, young London-based producer Poté dives into a dense kuduro-influenced workout just oozing with basslines, while contest winners MaxX & EJ warp the original into a 140BPM trap-leaning banger, which breaks down into a heavy zouk bass drop that gives the remix a tropical feel without losing grasp of the dancefloor.
After pulling influences from all corners of the globe to create the original ‘Control EP’, Branko now passes the torch to a new generation of Global Club Music producers that find new and exciting ways of carrying on his tropical legacy.
